MGF’s Mickey Ashcroft has been organising a monthly foodbank collection for 11 months now.
Mickey was moved to action after volunteering as an NHS Responder when Covid-19 hit the UK, he saw that local people, in full time employment, were still struggling to afford make ends meet and feed their families. He began working in conjunction with the Atherton & Leigh Food Bank, part of the Trussell Trust, after seeing them supporting a single mother and her two children who had been stricken with Covid whilst volunteering.

Mickey started MGF’s drive in December 2021 with the intention of donating our collection to this local food bank to give as much support as possible. MGF’s Head Office took to the challenge immediately with our staff donating consistently big deliveries of food and other essentials to the Atherton based foodbank.
These last two months of the year are going to be tough for everyone with the current cost of living crisis, this means our donations become even more meaningful as the foodbank supports people throughout the winter months.
Any support is hugely valued by the foodbank and they accept donations at all times. If you’re not local, maybe you could research foodbanks in your area and help support families who are struggling this winter.
