This Christmas, MGF have carried out a number of activities across our 14 depots in order to support local charities and help provide for those less fortunate during the festive period.
At the end of each year, our depots select several causes looking for assistance and organise collections, donations and other activities that encourage selfless acts.
One of these activities included our annual Christmas Jumper Day, held this year on Friday 10th December, where staff came to work wearing their most festive jumpers and offered donations that would go to a chosen charity. All donations raised went towards Wigan & Leigh Hospice to help those working continue to care for patients throughout the festive season. In all, MGF were able to raise an impressive £360 thanks to the generous donations from across the company.
Alongside this, throughout December toy collections were held to help collect toys for children who otherwise may have not received anything on Christmas Day. Toys for boys and girls between the ages of 0-18 years old were donated to Cash for Kids Mission Christmas, a campaign that helps to ensure that children do not go without during the festive period. An amazing 67 toys were collected by head office alone! These toys as well as donations received from Foundation House, were delivered to Mission Christmas drop off points whereas toys collected by Rugeley depot were taken to the Rugeley & District Lions Club. Great effort by all involved!
Select depots also chose to organise food banks so that food could be donated to local charities to help provide food to those who are most in need. Food banks in general are in their highest demand at this time of year, so any donations are always greatly welcome. This year MGF food banks delivered their donations to Atherton & Leigh Foodbank as well as Rugeley Foodbank, who distribute food to local families.
A huge thank you to all at MGF who participated and showed their support to local communities this Christmas!
