On the 17th March, our Yorkshire depot organised and hosted a Flat Cap Brew fundraiser. The event was on behalf of the Yorkshire Brain Tumour Charity (YBTC) as part of Brain Tumour Awareness month this March.
For the event, staff at the depot prepared a wide spread of themed cakes, tarts and other sweet treats such as the well loved brain biscuits. They also prepared a selection of hampers including an alcohol hamper, large Easter egg hamper and other Easter themed prizes, which were won by way of an Easter raffle, involving all employees across the business. Their hard work paid off, with the days event raising a massive £532.
The YBTC is appreciative of the depots fundraiser as they sent a representative to the event who got to see first hand all the work being put in and the passion behind the event.
“We’re so grateful to Debbie and her team at MGF for their continuing support of Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity. By putting on their flat caps, sharing some delicious baked goods and making some time in their day for a Flat Cap Brew, they have raised over £500 as well as spreading vital awareness of our charity. This amazing amount could provide a grant for a patient in need of some financial support after a difficult diagnosis. Thank you all!”– YBTC‘s Alice Hiley had high praise for the Castleford Depot’s fundraising.
Debbie’s passion comes from the support she has had from YBTC throughout her diagnosis with a brain tumour. Since then Debbie has been deeply involved with the Yorkshire Brain Tumour Charity, taking part in well-being walks and drop-in sessions as they’ve supported her during the past 15 months.
Last year, Debbie completed the Coastal Ramble to raise money for YBTC which was a brutal run that she found very difficult, especially the last 3 miles. Despite this, Debbie has signed up to complete the Coastal Ramble again this year, hoping to raise even more vital funds. Please visit her GoFundMe page as any donations will be greatly appreciated!
