As part of our birthday celebrations, we launched an initiative that each of our shoring depots across the UK would have one standard trench box in their fleet painted black and branded with the logo of a charity of their choice.
Now, nearly 3 months on the boxes are still on sites and making their way across each region – continuing to raise money for both national and local charities.
We spoke to some of the charities involved, here’s what they had to say!
We would like to congratulate MGF on their 40th anniversary and we are delighted to be chosen as MGF’s dedicated charity for their anniversary fundraising initiative. It costs £12,000 a day to keep both of Yorkshire’s air ambulances maintained and in the air and the support we will receive from this campaign will help tremendously towards raising the vital funds to keep our helicopters flying over Yorkshire.Jenny Jones, Regional Fundraising Manager for South and West Yorkshire at Yorkshire Air Ambulance
Our Castleford Depot chose to pledge their donation to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, a service that offers a rapid response air ambulance service that relies on the generosity of individual and business donations with the secondment of NHS paramedics and doctors to save lives across Yorkshire.
MGF Tring are supporting Rennie Grove Hospice Care through their black box donations. Providing specialist care and support to adults and children with life limiting illnesses in Buckinghamshire and West Hertfordshire, Rennie Grove allows patients to live to the best quality of life and chose how and where they are cared for towards the end of their life.
Rennie Grove Hospice Care are delighted to be a part of the MGF Charity Box Campaign. Support from local businesses is vital to ensure our nurses can continue to provide specialist care in the local community to adults and children with life-limiting illness. We are all very excited to see the Rennie Grove hire equipment and look forward to this innovative campaign raising awareness of our service and the incredible work our nurses do. Thank you to all at MGF for your support and congratulations on your 40th Anniversary!Isobel Dwyer, Corporate Partnership Executive for Rennie Grove Hospice Care
Our Durham team have nominated St Cuthbert’s Hospice to receive their donation. After local residents formed the hospice, St Cuthbert’s have continued to provide free support to patients and their families from helping them make informed decisions and 24-hour care to continually developing their offering for patients to enjoy the time toward the end of their lives.
We are delighted to be chosen as one of the charities to benefit from MGF’s black box campaign as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations. Not only will the trench box raise awareness of the Hospice across the region, the proceeds from the box will make a huge difference too. The past year has been hugely difficult for all of us due to the pandemic, and at St Cuthbert’s we continue to face many challenges. One such challenge is the loss of income while our shops are closed, and with our fundraising events postponed or cancelled. However, thanks to the incredible support of individuals and organisations such as MGF, we can be confident of a vibrant future.Jade McArdle, Senior Community and Events Fundraiser for St Cuthbert’s Hospice
A charity close to the heart of our Rugeley team is Tommy’s. Tommy’s actively researches the causes and prevention of pregnancy complications, miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth and neonatal death whilst actively supporting parents who are suffering the loss of their child.
“Happy 40th anniversary to MGF! We’re delighted to hear that your Rugeley team have chosen to support Tommy’s. It’s heartening to know that companies such as yours are committed to contributing to change, especially during these difficult times.”

We would like to thank our customers for enabling us to pledge donations to each of these charities by continuing to hire our equipment – together we are making a difference to charities across the UK and hopefully to many lives.
The boxes will be selected at random from the hire fleet and sent far and wide across each region. If you see one of our boxes, perhaps spare a thought for the incredible work they do and look to see if there are any ways that you too could show your support.
If your site is one of those that receive a charity box, please email your photos to email@example.com and tag us in any social media posts, it would be fantastic to see support from all of our customers for these great causes.
