National Sales Manager - Capital Sales

As part of our continued growth and expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen to further develop and drive our Capital Sales division of the business, as the National Sales Manager.

Focussing on the improvement in profitable Sales (United Kingdom) and Hire (Internationally) activity, you will build market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and securing business relationships. Using your networking experience and knowledge of the construction industry, the National Sales Manager will generate new business opportunities from both existing and new accounts in order to achieve budgeted levels of revenue in a profitable and professional manner.

With strong account management skills, you will build sustainable long term relationships with customers by offering market leading products and solutions, working with the team to ensure that customer service levels and performance standards are met.


You will be responsible for all aspects of the division, in all locations, including Profit and Loss, in order to establish MGF as a recognised centre for the Capital Sales (United Kingdom) and Hire (Internationally) of shoring equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and monitor performance of the multi-million pound division budget against ambitious KPIs
  • Have a clear and full understanding of how budgets have been calculated along with related figures during the year (e.g. customer spend)
  • Manage the performance and development of the Sales team to achieve commercial targets
  • Recruit and train adequate staff required to enable growth within the division
  • Identify and generate new business opportunities by contacting potential customers, discovering, and exploring new opportunities
  • Research and identify streams of work to target as well as new customers
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts
  • Deliver long term contracts and supply agreements to a wide range of potential new customers through effective presentations and face-to-face negotiations
  • Conduct nationwide site visits and customer visits to develop effective customer relationships

Core Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the construction industry, preferably in the piling industry
  • The ability to read drawings and understand the construction process
  • The ability to sell the solutions offered by MGF in addition to the sale of products, whilst building long-term relationships
  • Territory planning and customer management experience
  • Be a good team player who is able to build relationships both internally and externally
  • With a growth in international sales, proficient written and verbal communication in a European language would be advantageous but not essential

Established in 1981, MGF is a market leader in the design, manufacture, hire and sale of temporary works equipment for the civil engineering, utilities and construction industry. Employing over 400 staff, we currently operate nationally from 14 locations. We manufacture our own equipment, operate our own transport fleet and importantly have an in-house engineering team who produce design solutions to meet customers’ requirements.
