Now entering its 14th year, National Apprenticeship Week has proven to have had a huge impact on promoting apprenticeships in our ever-changing society. This year’s week of celebrations follow the theme “Build the Future”. It is important that forward thinking companies are looking to the benefits an apprentice can have for their team and wider business.
Over the years MGF have supported 27 apprentices in their progression of developing the skills and knowledge that are vital to their progression. This is what the theme “Build the Future” is about, encouraging employers to offer apprentices the opportunity to develop a set of key skills they will need for the future.
We took this opportunity to interview some of our past and present apprentices to see first hand how following the apprenticeship route has been beneficial for them in their career.

Kevin began his apprenticeship with MGF in 2018 when he recognised an opportunity to develop on the job experience whilst working towards a recognised qualification. Over the past 3 years, Kevin has developed both his skills and confidence whilst contributing to key businesses operations.
On the topic of developing Kevin also mentioned:
“Work experience working in a busy, hands on environment has given me the ability to foresee daily operational requirements including taking responsibility for planning the day ahead.”
In 2019 Kevin entered the World Skills UK competition where Kevin came 4th out of 400 entrants, an incredible achievement for doing something that he loves.

Charlotte’s initial interest was to follow a career in teaching, however she came across an opportunity to study an apprentice in HR and so applied to join MGF, after 2 years has never looked back!
During Charlotte has successfully completed her CIPD Level 3 in Human Resources making her an associate member of the CIPD. Continuing in her apprenticeship studies she is looking to study for her Level 5 later this year.
Throughout the apprenticeship, Charlotte has developed valuable communication skills whilst expanding her knowledge of HR legislations. Charlotte said “This has been an amazing starting point for me and I’m looking forward to learning more”.
In 2019 Charlotte received the Sustainability Excellence Award which is a fantastic achievement and hopefully the first of many in her career.

Liz has been part of the HR team at MGF for just under 7 years, she started off studying for a Business Administration Level 3 NVQ and then swiftly progressed onto a Level 5 CIPD HR Management which is equivalent to a foundation degree.
Over the years Liz’s knowledge and skills have developed alongside her experience after being involved in a range of scenarios and projects. Speaking on the value of an apprenticeship she stated:
“Being an apprentice taught me valuable skills and knowledge that I would not have learnt by going down the conventional pathway of university.”
An amazing achievement for Liz was graduating after completing the Level 5 CIPD while she admits that she had to sacrifice a lot of free time during her study to work on assignments the result was worth it.

Jaydon started at MGF in February 2020 as a Level 3 Marketing Apprentice. He decided to follow the apprenticeship route soon after leaving high school and realising the route of A Levels and University wasn’t best suited for him.
As an apprentice during this time, he has had to adapt to the current situation to allow him to develop communication, organisational and teamwork skills. Everyday Jaydon continues to develop his knowledge and experience within a working environment whilst also studying to gain his qualifications.
The most beneficial part of an apprenticeship for Jaydon is the aspect of working within a busy Marketing team environment instead of solely studying towards his chosen career.
National apprenticeship week promotes to our youth and employers the value of apprenticeships using success stories from what other past apprenticeships have achieved, your able to find vacancies for apprenticeship on the official website below.
