Ivor recently joined MGF Structural Support in early 2023, working under Matt Quatrello, National Sales Manager, becoming a key part of a strong national sales team.
Tell us a bit about your role
My day to day role involves servicing current customers and enquiries, working with our sales support team and also prospecting for new business across my area and promoting our Structural Support capabilities.
What do you enjoy about it the most?
I enjoy how different each day has been, and how we help and support customers by coming up with solutions to the structural problems, as well as supporting the wide and varied range of structures we deal with.
Describe your background and how you got into the industry
I actually started off working at B&Q in generic customer facing retail, before being approached by Howarth’s timber, where I joined on as a graduate. There, I was shop manager where I worked up to moving into external sales, eventually joining Travis Perkins as assistant branch manager, it was there that I really began to understand business and operations. After this, I decided to go back into external sales, a role that I enjoy thoroughly due to the fulfilling nature of helping people with their problems, creating relationships and helping grow a customer base. I am excited to bring these skills into my role here at MGF.
What do you find to be the most interesting projects to work on?
I find that the more complex the job, the more interested in it I am. I enjoy the challenge of helping customers, with assistance from the team of engineers to help overcome the complexities, as it shows that we are more than capable than being the market leader in Structural Support and temporary propping solutions.
What do you appreciate about having strong working relationships with customers and how that benefits your job?
The best thing about having that relationship is that you are relied upon and thought of as the go-to person for that specific problem. The ability to facilitate a solution for the customer is fantastic, really enjoyable.
