MGF have been to local careers fairs, spreading the word about our apprenticeship programme.
MGF have recently visited local careers fairs for St John Rigby College and Fred Longworth High School. As a company, MGF is striving to reduce the shortage of skilled workers by offering apprenticeships to school leavers, both Year 11’s and Year 13’s.
The careers events offer students the chance to interact with organisations and gain accurate, up to date information on the variety of opportunities available to them.
The St John Rigby careers event was attended by members of Learning & Development and Engineering.
“The careers event at St John Rigby went well, students were interested in the MGF stand and asking questions. Students seem to be very interested in the apprenticeship programme that MGF offer. We are hoping that we have inspired students to consider a career in engineering and explore different pathways to this.

MGF understand that allowing students to meet our staff members and ask questions about the opportunities that we offer is an invaluable experience when deciding on a pathway into further education and working life.
In October, MGF attended the annual Fred Longworth careers events. This event forms MGF’s introduction to meeting many year 11 students, local to our engineering centre, and on the verge of starting their careers across many professions.
“At MGF we believe in investing in young talent through our new ‘Grass Routes‘ programme, which we have successfully brought through the class of 2022. Oliver Briggs from Fred Longworth High School and Luke Eckersley, from St Mary’s Six Form, another local school near to the engineering centre. Both apprentices are settling into working life and getting stuck into their studies at North West based colleges and universities.”

MGF will be returning to Fred Longworth in early 2023 to give students a further insight into Civil Engineering.
