MGF are proud to have attended our second B4L Women in Engineering event and to have supported a worthy cause. Over 100 women attended the full day event earlier this month to help raise money for WaterAid. The event also aims to encourage and inspire women to persevere within the industry.
MGF sponsored the event and showed our support with 4 members from various departments attending. South West Regional Manager, Tracy McMahon, Technical Sales Lisa Bury, our Senior Engineer, Emma Hewitt and Joana Costa, Design Engineer being those in attendance.
MGF’s Lisa Bury stated:
“It was an absolute pleasure, not only did we sponsor the event but to be invited along with some of my fellow female colleagues and to be given the opportunity to listen to some very inspiring women talk about their very successful careers in engineering and obstacles they had overcome to get to where they are now left me feeling very motivated and inspired”
Joana Costa, another MGF attendee said,
“I had a great time at this conference. It’s always good to meet more people involved in the same industry and to hear their stories about their own journey and experiences. I congratulate all the people involved in organising this event. They’ve done a great job.”
It’s vital to support the encouragement of women within the construction industry but also to support charities like WaterAid that aim to empower women through clean water and sanitation around the world.
Tracy McMahon also commented:
“MGF have been a proud partner of ‘Wessex 4 Africa’ for over a decade, we were delighted when this years B4L Fund Raising Team asked if we would like to sponsor their ‘Women in Engineering’ event held at the Bristol Marriott. Myself & three colleagues enjoyed a fantastic day listening to motivational key speakers and getting involved in workshop training sessions. Over one hundred women from the construction industry attended & the feedback has been tremendous, we are hoping this will become an annual event!”
