MGF Delivers Key Health and Safety Target

MGF’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Team (SHEQ) are delighted to report that the business has just surpassed the milestone of 1million hours worked since their last recorded reportable accident.

Back in early 2019 MGF launched its “Think Safe, Work Safe, Home Safe” and “Thumbs up to Stay Safe” initiatives throughout its nationwide network of depots. These were implemented to enhance the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees and to empower everyone to be more safety conscious.

The Think Safe initiative was implemented to drive business improvements and to ensure both our employees and customers who use our equipment go home safe and healthy every day. The Thumbs Up to Stay Safe campaign is aimed at preventing accidents involving Forklift Trucks and HGV’s by ensuring drivers and pedestrians are fully aware of vehicle movements via simple, visual communication.

Eddie Prendergast (SHEQ Manager) commented:

“MGF undertake many high-risk activities daily such as lifting, hot works, plant movements, work at height etc. therefore it is extremely pleasing over the course of the 1million hours worked that no major injuries have occurred. We empower our workforce to stop and challenge all unsafe conditions and behaviours.

This is the first time MGF has reached this milestone and is testament to the growing belief and attitudes towards our Think Safe, Work Safe, Home Safe philosophy. Our aim is to continue improving, to keep reinforcing safe behaviour and to promote everyone’s right to go home unharmed each day.”
