MGF Service Delivery

MGF Expands UK Haulage Fleet

MGF have made a significant investment in the expansion of our commercial vehicle fleet to further meet our customer’s delivery needs and to support our environmental improvement aspirations for this year.

By operating our own fleet of commercial vehicles, ranging from transit type pick-ups through to 28 tonne articulated units, we benefit from complete logistical control of our operations with maximum flexibility to meet our customer’s needs.

New Trucks at MGF Head Offices

The 11 new commercial vehicles, fitted with Euro5 diesel engines, arrived at our North West Head Office in February.  With the addition of 7, P340 26 tonne Scania’s and 4 7.5 tonne DAF’s, our fleet has now been expanded to 53 vehicles that serve our 8 locations for nationwide coverage.

Fleet Director Ronnie Ranson explains “We have invested over £700’000 in our latest fleet expansion. Whilst further strengthening our transport network capabilities, the investment significantly contributes towards MGF’s sustainability agenda. We are aiming to reduce our carbon footprint by 2.5% in 2014 through a targeted investment programme in infrastructure and technology, the Euro5 diesel engines in the Scania and DAF trucks significantly reduce harmful emissions from our commercial vehicles and also meet with the European Commission’s exhaust legislation”

The vehicles have also undergone bespoke body work with the addition of the MGF WagonSafe Edge Protection System. This flexible system allows a 600mm walkway to be extended around the cargo bed for increased space that reduces safety risk for Operatives working at height whilst loading and unloading MGF products.

Designed, developed and manufactured in house, the WagonSafe Edge Protection System will be a standard feature on MGF wagons and is a demonstrable example of MGF’s ongoing commitment to improve occupational safety through product innovation.
