MGF supported Lynx Construction Limited on a brickwork remediation project at an occupied commercial property in the South East. The works involved repairing a damaged section of masonary located above an existing opening, requiring a temporary structural support solution that would allow the remediation to be carried out safely and efficiently.
A key requirement of the project was that the building remained fully operational throughout the works. This meant the temporary support system needed to maintain safe access for building users and site personnel, whilst fitting within a restricted working area and providing reliable support to the damaged masonary.
Brickwork Remediation & Cantilever Propping Works

MGF provided safe temporary support to damaged brickwork, enabling remediation works to proceed while maintaining structural stability.Â
MGF developed a temporary works design using the UniShore® system, providing both the engineering design and equipment supply for the project. The solution was configured as a cantilever propping arrangement, allowing the damaged brickwork to be supported while remediation works were completed above the opening.
The system utilised a combination of UniShore® Light and Medium duty components, including extensions, screw brackets and associated connection accessories. The modular nature of the UniShore® system allowed the support arrangement to be tailored to the confined site conditions while maintaining sufficient working space around the structure.
Although the solution was based on a standard UniShore® configuration, it provided significant practical advantages for the contractor. The lightweight modular components enabled rapid assembly and dismantling, reducing installation time and minimising manual handling compared with more traditional support methods.
Throughout the project, MGF worked closely with Lynx Construction Limited and temporary works installation contractor RGL Construction Services Ltd, ensuring the support system met both the structural requirements of the remediation works and the operational requirements of the live building.
MGF delivered a practical and efficient cantilever propping solution that enabled brickwork remediation works to be completed safely without disrupting the day to day operation of the building. The flexibility of the UniShore® system allowed the contractor to maintain safe access and maximise the available working space whilst providing reliable support to the existing masonary structure.
The speed of installation, reduced manual handling requirements and compact footprint of the system helped the contractor complete the works efficiently within a restricted environment. Combined with MGF’s design expertise and ongoing engineering support, the project demonstrates the value of modular structural support solutions for refurbishment and remediation works in occupied buildings.
