We have a strong team of 39 civil, structural, and mechanical engineers who combine to offer a comprehensive temporary works design service which includes the development of our products. The aim of the engineering team is to provide early engagement, manage risk through design and produce value driven solutions to meet customer requirements.

Our CAD Centre is regularly updated and allows the customer to download designs for each of our products.

Industry Best Practice
MGF are committed to improving both excavation and structural safety and creating safe working environments for our customers and in the communities in which we operate.
We are fully aware of our obligations under the CDM Regulations:2015 and take a pro-active approach to developing and promoting industry best practice through experience, research, innovation and training.
Lunch and Learn
Our Lunch and Learn sessions allow us to demonstrate and discuss subjects relevant to your sector as well as present our own projects, research and development and success.
Our sessions are now available virtually, ensuring they are accessible to all customers.
Prop Load Monitoring
Our Prop Load Monitoring Service allows customers to effectively monitor temperatures and the loads within MGF props and frames 24/7, alerting them to any changes.
We also offer a bespoke web portal where customers can view data remotely.
Engineering Design
Our complimentary Temporary Works Design Engineering Service is carried out by a strong team of qualified civil, structural and mechanical engineers with extensive experience across the construction industry and is covered by £10 million Professional Indemnity Insurance.
We operate using a digital approach, resulting in an efficient and professional service. Our Design Services are carried out through simple yet robust Quality Procedures to ISO 9001, and in accordance with all relevant design codes and legislation, ensuring that we provide our customers with solutions that balance safety and practicability with good value.
Our team can prepare and deliver approximately 400 temporary works designs per month, with full Autodesk Revit output, for projects ranging from small roadside schemes through to large and complex basement propping requirements.
MGF operate a strict competency-based design checking system via our in-house developed Design Management System (DMS). Competency is assessed in accordance with the CPA Good Practice Guide, Management of Shoring in Excavations, Table 1 for the Temporary Works Design Check (TWDC) level, which incorporates CDM 2015 and BS 5975:2019. The DMS records all designs and revisions and controls the design output from initial enquiry through to issue to our customers. This digital design process provides MGF and our customers with full visibility on new and existing projects and design enquires.
MGF’s market leading MiDesign® Standard Solutions service only further reinforces our reputation by continuing to support our customers by providing world class leading digital engineering innovation.
Along with our complimentary Temporary Works Design Engineering service, MGF also offer a tendering and bespoke design service for Major Projects such as basement propping and other large-scale excavations. To supplement these services, MGF can provide Network Rail and Highways Agency Check Certificates, Design Check Certificates and scheme specific Design Safety and Risk Assessments upon request.

Research & Development
A core concept at MGF is the continual research and development to create new, innovative products that offer solutions to our customers’ needs.
Our in-house research and development team produce high quality Safe Systems of Work guidance for the safe installation of our products. Our award-winning and industry leading animated installation guidelines demonstrate best practice and support our customers with the installation of shoring equipment and ancillaries. These Safe Systems of Work are available as both downloadable documents and digitally animated step-by-step videos found on individual product pages.



MGF are involved in several technical forums and committees promoting industry best practice for earthworks in the UK, whilst members of the team are active in multiple webinars spanning a range of sectors. Our Lunch & Learn sessions offer insight into industry developments and allow us to demonstrate what we are currently working on.
