Level Up & Build Strong
This week, we are celebrating Women in Construction Week. The theme for 2026 is “Level Up, Build Strong.” and we are focusing on some of our women in construction who are levelling up their careers and building strong foundations for their futures. At MGF, we know that career progression isn’t just about climbing the career ladder; it’s about creating opportunities, nurturing confidence and opening doors for the next generation. Every woman who steps into our industry brings fresh perspective, resilience and ambition, and it’s these qualities that continue to strengthen our workforce.
Rachel Skuse - Marketing Executive
“I joined MGF in June 2022, and it was my first ever job in the construction industry, so everything felt brand new. I remember feeling like I had to relearn how to do my job all over again just to understand the sector. But looking back, that challenge was one of the best things for me. Bit by bit, I started to understand not just how MGF works, but how the industry as a whole fits together. My confidence has grown massively since then, and that’s honestly down to the support I’ve had from the Marketing team and the wider company. Having people who genuinely want you to succeed makes such a difference, and it’s played a huge part in helping me find my place here and push myself further.
Studying for my CIM has been another big step in that journey. It’s helped me get to grips with the strategic side of marketing and made my work feel much more focused and aligned with what we’re trying to achieve as a team and as a company. It’s given me a clearer sense of direction and helped me understand the kind of marketer I want to become as I keep building my career at MGF.”
Lisa McBreen - People Partner
“I joined MGF in January 2025, having been away from construction for a number of years and moving to an unknown, niche sector of construction provided me with an opportunity to challenge myself to gain a good understanding of the business and products as well as building relationships with the people.
I think that in undertaking the internal training modules, and product training I have a better measure of how MGF provide safe and reliable temporary works solutions and how the business is moving forward. Coupled with the time that people around the business have spent in furthering my knowledge and understanding of people’s roles and the parts that we all play in the operation of the business and within the operating market, I feel confident in where I fit and, in the value, I can add to projects and processes.
Being supported in studying for my CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management qualification is the next step in my professional development which will strengthen my strategic insight and allow me to apply this within my MGF career consistently.”
Ruby Smith - Trainee Accountant
“MGF’s culture towards growing careers was one of the reasons I joined straight out of sixth form in the summer of 2024. Since then, I have massively grown in confidence with my career and understanding where I want it to go.
My mentors encouraged me to pursue qualifications, reassuring me that whatever learning method I felt was suitable, they would accommodate for. I decided to go down the self-study route, as I would feel more confident having a better grasp on a subject, rather than being kept on a time sensitive programme. I began my Level 2 AAT a few months after joining, with ‘Total Accountancy Training’ being the provider that I chose and I passed the level in August 2025.
Since then, I have started AAT level 3 and continue to grow an interest in finance. Learning whilst working has been a massive help, as the topics I’m studying are relevant to my day-to-day tasks. I’m also particularly lucky as most of my colleagues are CIMA qualified – which is something I wish to achieve in the upcoming years.”
Levelling up your career can look different for everyone, whether it’s taking the first step into a new role, gaining new qualifications, or pushing towards senior leadership. At MGF, we’re proud to champion women and continue building strong foundations for their futures.
