MGF SUPPORT HIGH ROYD SEWAGE TREATMENT WORKS IN HALIFAX
MGF supported JN Bentley at High Royd Sewage Treatment Works in Halifax, where the contractor needed a safe and compliant system for accessing a shaft on site. The challenge arose when an existing floor-mounted socket was found to have a 64mm diameter, which was too small to accommodate their standard Davit system. With both fall arrest and material lifting requirements to consider, the contractor needed a reliable alternative that could fit the existing socket while providing full safety functionality.

SOLUTION
MGF worked closely with the contractor to identify the issue and determine the most suitable replacement from our fleet. After confirming the dimensions of existing equipment, we provided the Reid PortX Davit, a versatile system capable of offering fall arrest protection for personnel entering the shaft, as well as the capability to lift materials when required.
To ensure the proposed solution was safe, compatible, and fully capable, MGF attended the site to assess the existing socket and verify the suitability of the PortX Davit. This hands-on approach allowed us to confirm installation requirements, advise on safe use and provide confidence that the system would meet all operational needs.
THE VERDICT
MGF delivered a quick, practical and safe solution that allowed the contractor to work confidently within a confined space environment.
The PortX Davit provided a perfect fit for the existing socket and offered the dual capability of fall arrest and material lifting, all while keeping installation simple and efficient.
