UPGRADE OF DRAINAGE WORKS AT BLETCHLEY MDU
As part of the expansion of Network Rail’s depot at Bletchley, installation of a new septic tank for the sewerage system was required.
After being directly engaged to the project by Jamieson Contracting, MGF’s Rail Sales Specialist met with the Jamieson and Network Rail teams both virtually and in person to firm the design and establish suitable equipment for the job.
Once agreed, the temporary work solution was then designed and supplied to an approved brief.

Bletchley MDU – Waste Water Treatment Tank

KEY BENEFIT
Assembled frame deliveries to suit an install with minimal equipment in a rail environment
THE SOLUTION
Working around the existing sewage treatment infrastructure, the tight site conditions, proximity to the rail lines paired with a groundwater run off into the neighbouring embankment meant MGF’s design solution needed to be focused on flexibility of the connecting component parts.
MGF supplied 5.5m KKD sheets with a frame comprising 203 and 254UC braces to suit the excavation at 8.4m x 3.8m x 4.85m deep.
The sheet and frame system was chosen as opposed to a box system as it was most suited to minimise deflection in the rail environment.
THE VERDICT
Once the tank had been successfully installed, further drainage connections were required with the potential for additional box systems on site.
Delivering the most appropriate kit to suit site conditions and ensuring that an economic but safe design solution was provided ensured that Jamieson Contracting were able to save time on their project delivery.
