How MGF’s Partnership with AquAid is Providing Clean Water to Communities in Africa

Making a Global Impact with AquAid Water Coolers

MGF has strengthened its commitment to our sustainable operations through the rollout of mains-fed water dispensers across our depots. We are pleased to partner with AquAid, who supply high quality hydration solutions and drive clear social value through their partnership with the Africa Trust – which has generated more than £22 million for clean water and community development projects across Africa.

As part of our partnership, every MGF water dispenser installation contributes funding towards the construction of an Elephant Pump in Africa. This technology is a modernised version of a traditional rope-pully-system and provides safe, reliable drinking water for rural communities. One of these pumps is currently being installed on behalf of MGF and will be a much-needed source of clean and fresh drinking water for many. Our organisation’s name will be proudly displayed on our pump, and we look forward to adding a photo and a letter of thanks from the villagers to our site in the near future.

To date, AquAid has supported the construction of more than ten thousand Elephant Pumps across Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. These installations improve daily access to clean water, reduce the time required to collect water, and support the wider health, education and economic outcomes within the communities they serve.

Our partnership with AquAid aligns with our ESG commitments to support sustainable procurement practices and contribute to positive social impact beyond our operations. We will continue to work with suppliers that demonstrate clear alignment with our sustainability goals and organisational values.
