MGF collaborated with Chartrange Limited on behalf of Barclays to support the construction of a new below ground basement and lift shaft extension in Knutsford.
Working closely with Chartrange’s temporary works design team we provided specialist guidance which ensured the correct equipment was selected for the 6M deep excavation. To meet the project’s structural requirements, MGF modified our frames and fabricated bespoke shear stop, while also delivering specialist sheet piles at short notice to meet our customers requirements.
This approach enabled Chartrange to progress the basement works in the allotted timescale required.

After a detailed assessment of the project requirements alongside Chartange Limited’s team, it was identified that the most suitable solution was to use a combination of our above ground and below ground shoring support system to ensure the four-story building was safely supported.
To achieve this, MGF supplied sheet piles/frame solutions alongside our propping arrangement using UniShore®, to create a robust structural support system capable of accommodating the buildings load throughout the basement and lift shaft excavation works.
The project was excellently planned and executed, from the initial design process through to the safe installation and final removal of all temporary works equipment. This approach ensured that all clients requirements were met and enabled the works to progress efficiently and without delay.
