Contractor

D.B Cummins (LTD)

KEY BENEFIT

Continuing to provide a consistent offering of goods and services sailing from the UK.

THE SOLUTION

The project was led by D.B Cummins (Jersey) Ltd, who were tasked with installing a new foul pumping chamber tank. Faced with challenging ground conditions and a pressing timeline, they turned to MGF for technical expertise and dependable equipment. The excavation measured 15m x 12m x 3m deep, with groundwater encountered at just 2m below the surface. The site was dominated by poor clay soils, which added further complexity to the task and required a carefully engineered support solution.

MGF’s design team worked closely with D.B Cummins to develop a safe and efficient system that would meet both the technical requirements and the programme constraints. The Managing Director of D.B Cummins praised MGF’s contribution, stating, “The technical design and information provided by MGF was very helpful and gave us confidence when presenting the solution to our client.”

THE VERDICT

To streamline the process, all equipment was pre-assembled at MGF’s Tring Depot. This included 254UC and 203UC braces, along with a robust 60T cross strut. Once ready, the system was shipped via Southampton docks directly to Jersey, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.

This project is a testament to MGF’s ability to deliver tailored solutions under pressure, combining technical expertise with logistical precision. The successful outcome in Jersey reinforces MGF’s reputation as a trusted partner for complex groundworks across the UK and internationally.

“It was important to Pierce and the wider team at D.B Cummins that we met their construction programme without compromise. Our design was completed promptly, reviewed and approved by their external consultant, and the equipment was delivered to site on time, exactly as promised.”
